Not a fake. It’s real. There’s one like it in my back yard. It’s an Alanthus Altissima, aka Tree of Heaven, aka Ghetto Palm. They grow anywhere you let them – even through the cracks of an unlit basement. They can grow in these strange, twisted shapes too. It’s not surprising that given the sheer numbers of them in populated areas that someone took a photo like this.

The fact that people honestly believe this image is fake is in the up most and highest manner of insult to the photographer. I have analyzed the image and the resolution and effects of the tree including shadowing all fit the rest of the image. Also, so long as you are not using the image for commercial purposes (meaning you use it for education like in a class presentation or something) then you can use any image on the internet for presentations and such, so long as you credit the creator if you can find them. If not the second best option is to credit the site you found it from. The image, any image, is copyrighted because it is considered original works and therefore any creation (video, image, or any other excluding discovery) are considered copyrighted. :> Hope this helps.

Carol Lynn, I am sure others have suggested this but I would copyright the image asap. While not a screaming opportunist myself, there is some small financial gain to be realized here that can be redirected toward any number of uses.
